CARISSA SMITH
ATTORNEY
carissa@forbushlegal.com
Carissa joined Forbush Legal in 2016 as our marketing coordinator, worked her way into the Assistant Office Manager position, and then decided she wanted to go to Law School. Now, a licensed attorney with our firm, Carissa currently manages our probate department and loves serving our clients.
Carissa has a BA in History, with concentrations in both Mexican-American and African-American Studies, from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She was one of 21 students accepted into a special program at Vermont Law School where she managed to complete the entire 3 year law degree in only 2 years. While in her final semester at Vermont Law, Carissa entered a nation-wide essay contest sponsored by the Family Law division of the American Bar Association and won 2nd place. This included a cash prize and the honor of her paper getting published in the Family Law Quarterly which is a scholarly journal published by the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association (publication is currently in its final editing process).
Carissa is very active in the Colorado Springs community. She has been a volunteer "Big Sister" for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Pikes Peak Region since 2017. She is a former Board Member of Pikes Peak Suicide Prevention Partnership and has also served as a committee chair for the local Alzheimer's Association chapter and for the Senior Resource Council.
Away from work Carissa loves to lift weights, read books, and spend time in her back yard with her two fur children, Molly and Cooper.
